During Black History Week, Year 4 explored the lives and work of influential Black artists and writers. In art, pupils created vibrant pieces inspired by Faith Ringgold, experimenting with colour, pattern, and storytelling through visual design.

In English, the children studied the poetry and activism of Benjamin Zephaniah. They wrote poetic biographies to celebrate his life and achievements, combining their writing with their artwork to produce powerful final pieces.

It was a thoughtful and creative week that helped deepen pupils’ understanding of identity, expression, and cultural heritage — well done, Year 4!
