We welcome our duties under the Equality Act 2010 to eliminate discrimination, advance equality of opportunity and foster good relations in relation to race, disability, sex (gender), age, religion or belief, sexual orientation, pregnancy, maternity and gender reassignment.

Within the overall framework of the School Development Plan, we formulate specific and measurable equality objectives. These are kept under review and progress reported on annually.

Current objectives

• Further develop strategies to identify vulnerable learners and understand their needs, targeting provision to meet these.
• Improving the effectiveness of provision by ensuring that additional funding is used effectively to help disadvantaged pupils and those who have special educational; needs and/or disabilities to make faster progress.
• Plan activities which challenge and motivate pupils of different abilities.
• Improve the effectiveness of leadership and management ensuring that leaders draw on a range of evidence when monitoring the quality of teaching and focus more closely on the progress of different groups, especially when checking pupils' work in books.
