Our Family of Schools

British Values

The Department for Education has introduced a statutory duty for schools to promote British Values more actively from September 2014, and to ensure they are taught in schools.

At Dosthill Primary Academy we wholeheartedly aim to prepare children for life in modern Britain which links in with our focus on character education.   We value the ethnic and cultural mix of our society and undertake a variety of events, lessons and assemblies to celebrate and extend our children’s knowledge and understanding.

We ensure that the fundamental British Values are introduced, discussed and lived out through the ethos and work of the school.  All curriculum areas provide a vehicle for furthering understanding of these concepts.  Our cross-curricular approach ensures that the spiritual, moral, social and cultural education of our children is deepened and enhanced.

At Dosthill Primary Academy we value the voice of the child and promote democratic process such as our school council, eco club and Trust Pupil Leadership team whose members are voted for by the children.

During assemblies, PSHE, all areas of the curriculum and indeed every interaction within school we are constantly promoting our school vision and values. We always expect children to be excellent role models for each other and to create our respectful school ethos.
