In Year 6 we have lots of wonderful learning planned.
In Talk for Writing we will be learning how to write a 'Rags to Riches' story, focusing on building suspense. We will look in detail at our model text to find which grammatical features have been used to build tension, so that we can replicate this in our own writing.
In Reading lessons we will be studying the book Good Night Mr Tom and beginning to answer retrieval and vocabulary-based questions about it.
In Maths lessons we will learn about place value and the four main operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division).
Our Topic for Autumn term will be called World at War. Within this topic, we will examine the causes of World War 2 and explore what life in Britain would have been like at that time. We will identify which areas of Britain were targeted and use painting and sketching techniques to depict key events in the war.
